Yourlist Classified Ads: Overview

Yourlist Classified Ads by Emerging Designs -- Released on Nov 16, 2007

Now you can start your own Craigslist style website, quickly and easily. The Yourlist Classified Ads plugin installs in moments and allows your users to post classified ads for free or through a paid membership.

New Version 2.0!
New Features:

  • Membership login and sign up is integrated!
  • Email notifications now include approve and decline links
  • Single page drag and drop - no more having two page and securing one to a group!

You are probably thinking to yourself, "How do I make money on this?"
The answer is simple. There are at least two ways to make money.

  1. Charge a fee for the membership feature of the site. To do this, use the Shopping Cart, create a new product called Membership, and charge whatever you want. When someone purchases, just add them to the group you will create for the classfied ads section.

  2. Add Google Adwords or other advertising banners to your site. Hint: Use The Widgeteer to add the Google Adwords scripts or other advertiser's scripts to your pages that display the classified ads

This plugin requires the use of the Membership Module of Soholaunch for the users. Once a user logs in, they can create an ad, view all of their own ads, edit them and remove them. Users can upload up to 4 photos for their ad (this can be disabled).

Visitors to the site can view and search the ads without having to login.

This plugin has an administration panel allowing you to:

  1. Manually enter ads

  2. Review, edit and remove ads

  3. Add unlimited categories

  4. Require administrator review before posting

  5. Enable/Disable the option of uploading photos to listings.

View the screen shots to see what it can look like on a site.

More features will be coming in the near future.

1. After installation, click on the Free Classified Ads icon and then click on System Settings and confirm the settings.

2. Go to the Category Setup button and enter each of the categories you would like to offer your users to post their ads to.

3. If you have not already begun using the Soholaunch Member Logins, you will need to learn how this works. Basically, though, you will need to create a secure user group, such as Classifieds. And then, as users sign up, assign them to this group. You can use an existing secure user group if you already have one. Hint: This system is perfectly complimented by the Auto Member Registration Kit.

4. At this point, you need to create two pages: one for the classified ad listings, one for the classified administration. Once you have these two pages, edit the page that will show the listings for anyone to view. Click on the button to view the Plugins. Then drag the Free Classifieds button down to the page. It's a good idea to make this be the only thing on the row. When prompted at the top, choose the Listing page option. Save the page. Next, edit the page for the user admin part of the Classified Ads system. Again, drag the Classified Ads icon and drop in on it's own row. When prompted, choose the Classified Admin and click OK. Lastly, click on Page Properties at the top. Under Security Code, choose the name of the Secure Users group from step 3.

Begin using your classified ads system!

NOTE: If you are upgrading, you should:
  1. Remove the Classified Admin page on your site and any links to that page.
  2. Edit the main Classified Ads page and delete the existing drop area and add it back in.
  3. If you have any issues with upgrading, please contact as soon as possible.
